Josh Shipp is an Expert with Troubled Teens

Josh Shipp (born January 20, 1982) is an American teen behavior expert, motivational speaker, best-selling author, and TV show host.[1] Josh began professionally speaking at age 17. He was president of Oklahoma DECA in High school. Starting in 2005, he was selected as a spokesperson for National Foster Care Month. On November 1, 2006, he launched HeyJosh.com and then wrote an advice column for CosmoGIRL! and appeared as an advice correspondent on MTV‘s TRL. His current projects include two television shows and a DVD series covering life skills for teenagers. In 2009 he was named to INC Magazine’s 30 under 30 of successful entrepreneurs.[2]

He has lectured at Harvard, Stanford and other major universities, as well as spoken to over two million students and parents at events such as the National FFA and SADD Conventions. [3]

Shipp has starred in two documentary-style television series, Jump Shipp.[4] In which he helped twenty-somethings stuck in dead-end jobs pursue their dream job.[3] And Teen Trouble which aired on Lifetime[4] and A&E. This show documented Shipp’s work with at-risk teens and is executive produced by Ellen Rakieten (formerly of The Oprah Winfrey Show).

He has contributed to Good Morning America, Oprah.com, Anderson Cooper Live, MTV, CNN, The New York Times and many other media outlets.

Shipp has authored two books “The Teen’s Guide to World Domination” was released by St. Martins Press August 17, 2010[5] and his upcoming book “Jump Ship: Turn Your Passion into a Profession”[6]

Shipp is represented by the United Talent Agency and lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.

In a September 22, 2011 article found on www.cisionwire.com, Josh is an “acclaimed motivational expert”, a “motivational speaker,” and a “career advice guru”

In an article on BelievableHope.com dated 10/15/2012, Josh Shipp is a “Teen Whisperer” and “a behavioral expert, author, TV host and motivational speaker.”

According to 12/20/2012 article in the NY Post Josh Shipp is “host [of Lifetime’s TV show ‘Teen Trouble’] and teen behavior specialist.

According to the 12/27/2012 Contra Costa Times article he is “For more than a decade, teen behavior specialist and motivational speaker.” This article introduces Shipp as the Host of Lifetime’s new TV show Teen Trouble. At the very end of the article, author Sean Daly does mention that Shipp has no formal licenses or training. He writes that ‘Shipp gets clearance from a team of doctors and therapists before placing any kids in extreme circumstances.’ Then Shipp is quoted as saying, “I am not prescribing medications. My role is more of a consultant. My credentials are that I lived that life and I overcame it.”
